Take Action

A majority of youth access prescription pills within their own homes. It is important to monitor your medicine cabinets and other areas of your home where prescription pills are stored.

If you are no longer using prescription pills, dispose of them by contacting your local law enforcement agency or local pharmacy to find out if medication disposal is available. If you discover that a pharmacy or law enforcement agency is no longer participating in medication disposal, call the DC Department of Behavioral Health’s Access HelpLine at 1(888)7WE-HELP or 1-888-793-4357.
